Kind Words Matter

Did you know that your words have power? They can build someone up or tear them down. That’s why it’s so important to choose kind and encouraging words—because the words we say are one of the easiest ways to love our neighbors.
Proverbs 16:24 says, “Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.” Imagine that! When you use kind words, it’s like offering someone a delicious, sweet treat that makes their heart happy and helps them feel better.
But what happens when we choose hurtful words instead? Gossip, bullying, or unkind comments can leave someone feeling sad or lonely. Jesus calls us to love our neighbors, and that includes using our words to make others feel cared for and valued.
How can you show love through your words today? Here are a few ideas:
- Say thank you. Show appreciation to your parents, teachers, or friends.
- Offer a compliment. Tell someone they did a great job or that you like their smile.
- Encourage someone. If a friend is feeling down, let them know you’re there for them and that God loves them.
Even small words of kindness can make a big difference! And remember, loving your neighbor also means avoiding words that hurt. If you’re tempted to gossip or say something mean, pause and think: “Would this make someone feel loved?”
Today, challenge yourself to share at least one kind word with someone. It could brighten their entire day!
Leave us a message telling us how you used kind words to love your neighbor. We’d love to share your story on the air!
