đ¤ Black â The Darkness of Sin

đ âFor all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.â â Romans 3:23
This week on Keys for Kids Radio, we’re exploring the Colors of Easter based on the “wordless book”âfive colors that help explain the Gospel! Today, we’re talking about black.
Donât miss the activity at the end!đď¸
Have you ever looked through a really dirty window? đŞ Itâs hard to see anything! The dirt makes everything dark and messy. Thatâs kind of like what sin does to our hearts. đ¤
đ Sin is anything we think, say, or do that goes against what God says is right.
When we lie, disobey, or are meanâthatâs sin đŹ
The Bible says:
đ âFor all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.â (Romans 3:23)
That means everyone has sinnedâme, you, everyone!
Sin brings darkness into our hearts đ. Itâs like turning off all the lights in your roomâyou canât see where to go! Sin keeps us far away from God đ.
BUT WAITâthereâs good news! đ
God doesnât want us to stay in the dark! He loves us and made a way for our sins to be forgivenâ¤ď¸ We donât have to stay dirty or lostâwe can be clean again! â¨
đ Come back tomorrow for the Colors of Easter to learn about the color â¤ď¸Redâand how Jesus saves us!
Or learn more about Jesus’s salvation right now
đ Activity Time!
âDirty Windowâ Object Lesson
Materials Needed:
- A clear piece of plastic or part of a mirror (can be from a picture frame or clear plastic sheet)
- Black dry erase marker
- A damp cloth for cleaning
Instructions:
- Hold up the clear mirror or plastic and draw a large heart on the mirror with dry erase markers. Talk about how our hearts were made to be clean and pure.
- Take turns with your family making the heart look dirty with different markers and even drawing pictures of things we do that are bad. Explain how sin makes our hearts dirty and separates us from God.
- Wash the mirror with the damp cloth or paper towels, showing Jesus’s forgiveness and sacrifice on the cross that cleans our hearts and makes them new again.
- Talk about how when our hearts are cleaned, we can be close to God again.
Spiritual Point: Just like dirty windows block the light, sin blocks us from being children of God. Our hearts are dark and dead because of the bad things we do. But when we ask Jesus to forgive us, He gives us a new heart that is alive and new. We are born again!
