God is EMET, FAITHFUL

Do you ever wonder what God is like? In church we learn a lot about what He’s done for us, and what we should do because of what He did.

But is He mean or is He kind? Does He keep His promises or not? Can you trust Him to do the right thing?

Exodus 34:6-7 tells us what God is like, and it’s the verse that other authors of the Bible quote the most when describing God,

“And he passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, “The Lord, the Lord, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin. Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished; he punishes the children and their children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation.” (NIV)

One of the characteristics of God is the Hebrew word emet, or faithfulness. It also carries the feeling of the words truth and stability or reliability in Hebrew.

And it means yes, we can trust God to always do the right thing and to always keep His promises!
