Jesus is the Perfect Firstborn
If you’re not the oldest kid in your family, do you ever get tired of wearing hand-me-down clothes, or having to go to bed earlier when they get to stay up, things like that? Sometimes it feels like the oldest kid gets special privileges.
In Bible times, the firstborn got a lot more than just staying up later; they’d get more of the inheritance when their parents died, and if their dad was king, the firstborn son usually got to be king after him.
But God often surprised people in the Old and New Testaments by not using the firstborn for His plan.
