Coloring Pages: Jesus and the Miraculous Catch of Fish

Have you ever gone through something really hard, and it was such a big change in your life that you weren’t sure what to do anymore?

Jesus’s disciples were exactly in that (metaphorical) boat after Jesus died and came back to life. They weren’t sure what to do anymore, and Jesus hadn’t yet given them their big job, called the Great Commission, that you can read about at the end of the book of Matthew.

So some of the disciples went back to fishing because that’s what they were doing before Jesus called them to be His disciples. They fished all night long but didn’t catch anything! They were already sad about missing Jesus, and they were extra frustrated because they couldn’t even do their old job anymore.

You can imagine how they might have felt, then, when dawn came and they saw a man on shore giving them unsolicited advice about trying to catch a few fish just one last time–they were probably pretty annoyed!

But they did what he suggested anyway, and they were surprised when they really did catch a bunch of fish! Peter, one of the disciples, realized who the man on shore must be, and just like he had done before, he jumped out of the boat, into the water, and swam to shore. He knew that this man must be Jesus!
