When we're at home and at school we are always told to use our inside voices.  But what did people do in the past to talk to people far away without a phone?

Well, that's why people practiced something called hollerin'. It was used a lot on farms and in smaller communities to give information. There are different types of hollerin' that mean different things.  

For some, it is more than just a hobby, it is an art.  There are even competitions for it!
