The Bible wasn't written with chapters or verses!

Did you know that the Bible wasn’t written with chapters and verses built in?

The books of the Bible were written book by book over time (known as scrolls or letters), but it wasn’t until hundreds of years later that scholars organized it with chapter and verse numbers in order to find what they wanted quicker.

But the problem is that the chapters and verses don’t always line up with how the Bible what originally written, like which parts are meant to be read together. The Bible was written to read out loud and listened to, and big sections of it were meant to be read together.

Like in the book of Genesis, the stories of Adam to Noah go together, then the story of Abraham, then Isaac and Jacob, and then Jacob’s sons, so four big sections, sometimes called “movements”.
