TWO BIG Holidays TODAY?!?!

Today is really cool because there are TWO holidays to celebrate! We've talked a good bit about holidays lately here on Keys for Kids Radio, so that makes today extra fun.

You might already know it's Father's Day, and maybe you got your dad a gift or you're doing something special to celebrate him. Have you taken the time to tell him happy Father's Day and that you love him?

If your dad's not a part of your life, then today is a really tough day. You know what though? You still have a heavenly Father Who loves you and He will always be with you!

Aaaaaaandd, today is JUNETEENTH! Juneteenth isn't as well-known as Father's Day, but it's the day celebrated in the United States when the last state (Texas) put President Abraham Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation into practice, which freed all the slaves in the United States.

Even those the Proclamation came on January 1, 1863, Texas didn't enforce it until June 19, 1865, when Union Major General Gordon Granger arrived on the island of Galveston, Texas. He took command of the more than 2,000 federal troops to enforce the emancipation of its slaves. Here's more from Kid Explorer about it:
