A Forever Love

We’ve been talking about love since last Friday about the different ways we can show love to God and others around us.

This is not the kind of love that we use when we say we “love candy” or we “love the New York Yankees.”

It might be fun to “love” certain things but it’s probably not what we’re talking about here.

Wow! Now that’s a lot of candy! But is it really love?

I think we’d all agree that it doesn’t even come close to God’s love which never fails.

It doesn’t fail because God doesn’t change. He doesn’t get tired of loving us. He doesn’t only love us when we are doing good things. God doesn’t love us only when He feels like it.

The thing is – GOD IS LOVE (1 John 4:8, look it up!). It is part of who is He is and He loves us all the time!

And He showed us this by sending His Son Jesus to die in our place on the cross. Now that is the greatest kind of love. And it’s the only love that lasts forever.

So what? What does this mean for me?

1 – Accept God’s love and free gift of salvation.

1 John 4:10 “This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.”

Choose Jesus today and choose forever love!

2- Love Others.

1 John 4:11 “Dear friends, since God loved us that much, we surely ought to love each other.” 

This means loving even when it’s hard! When your sister gets you into trouble or when your friends treat you badly, you need to show love.

We love others not because it’s easy but because God loves us.  Remember, love is a choice not a feeling.

Love is from God! Love is a choice! Love does! How are you going to love today?
