Love Does Not Envy – Love God Love People

The Green-Eyed Monster

What is the Green-Eyed Monster?  Sometimes it may even be a different color as in this video about two sisters and one hard-to-get-rid-of monster:

Have you ever wanted something someone else had?  Maybe a cool toy or the larger ice cream cone?  It doesn’t take much for the green-eyed monster of jealousy to come alive in our hearts.  One thing for sure is you don’t have to teach people how to be jealous.  Check out this video of a baby who does not want to share her mom:

So what does God say about being jealous?

“A heart at peace gives life to the body but envy rots the bones.” Proverbs 14:30

In other words, jealousy eats you from the inside out!  And it’s something we all deal with every day.

We need a plan of attack

Here are some steps you can take to help you when jealousy rears its ugly head:

1. Be thankful! The first line of defense is to have an attitude of gratefulness every day.

2. Don’t Compare! Make a list of all the good things God has blessed you with and focus on those things.

3. Get Your Eyes off Yourself!  If you focus on the needs of others jealousy will fade away.

4. Ask God for Help!  Pray for God to change your heart and He will.

Need more inspiration?  Maybe PursueGOD kids can help:

I Corinthians 13:4 “Love is patient, love is kind, IT DOES NOT ENVY…”

Put your love in action this week as we celebrate Valentine’s day with Love Does on Keys for Kids Radio.

And say good bye to the ugly green eyed monster of jealousy in your life!
