Back to School: I’m Stuck! Help!

Everyone gets stumped once in a while when doing school work. No worries….that’s part of the learning process! Here are some steps to help you work through it.

Step 1:

It’s easy to ask your teacher or parents for help at the first sign of trouble but that may not be the best thing.

Take a breath and keep trying on your own. Working through problems is part of learning and you can do it. Try to not get in the habit of asking for help right away!

And parents, don’t always rush in and save the day…let students work it out at least for a little bit.

Step 2:

If you are still stuck, ask for help. Try doing the problem together with a parent or teacher at first and then go back and repeat the same problem on your own so you know that you understand it.

Once you have the first problem mastered you are ready to move on to the next one.

Step 3:

Sometimes it’s best to take a break if the struggle is real and frustrations are mounting. Try to take a break and come back to it later.

Sometimes problems might even confuse Mom and Dad too! Reach out to someone you know who can help, like an older sibling or a friend. And there are also a lot of tutorials on YouTube that can be really helpful. Just be sure to have a grownup with you as you navigate YouTube.

But most importantly, don’t give up! Learning can be hard at times but it can also be fun. And just think of all the cool things you’ll know how to do! Happy Learning!

“Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.” Benjamin Franklin
