When a big disaster hits an area, it's hard to see how you can help sometimes. Like with Hurricane Harvey and Irma, so many people got hurt or had to leave their homes.

Mackenzie got to visit the kids in Haiti that she helped!

But Mackenzie Howell knew just what she wanted to do when she found out the country of Haiti needed help after a huge earthquake.

She was just 5 when she put together a bake sale at her church and a coin drive at her school, and sent $1,400 to missionaries in Haiti!

With her donation and other gifts, the missionaries built a school and started a new church. Mackenzie wasn't done just yet though, she also wrote a book about living in Haiti, and used the money from selling it to help even more kids in Haiti!
