It's finally December, and I'm so excited for the Christmas season coming! It's time to get into the Christmas spirit, and clearly, what better way to do that than to answer some Bible trivia, Christmas-style??
So jumping forward through the story a bit: Jesus has been born, and He's between a few months and two years old now. The wise men from the East are looking for Him so they can give Him gifts and worship Him. King Herod is the ruler of Israel at this time, and when he hears that the wise men are looking for "the child who has been born to be the king of the Jews" (Matthew 2:2), he gets really jealous. Right now, he's the king of the Jews, and he wants to stay that way and keep his power.
Herod asks the wise men to tell him when Jesus was born, and to tell him where in Bethlehem Jesus is when they find Him. He says that he also wants to worship Jesus, but really, Herod thinks that Jesus is going to take away his power, so Herod actually wants to kill Jesus! God warns the wise men that Herod is lying, so instead of telling him where Jesus is, they take a different way back home to avoid Herod.
Now back to Jesus, Mary, and Joseph. God sent an angel to Joseph in a dream to warn them that Herod wants to kill Jesus. He tells Joseph to take his family to another country to be safe from Herod until he dies, and that's the Bible Trivia Question for today: What country did Jesus, Mary, and Joseph go to when they escaped from Herod?
Let me know! Give me a call at 800-819-5437 and tell me the right answer. You can find it in Matthew chapter 2. Looking forward to hearing from you today!
